Why do you english men go on about training your dogs to sit stay ect..While in Ireland we rare them ..point seek destroy what would you want a running dog to sit for...UNLESS he needed a rest.

Maybe cuz when one dog or two dogs are coursing, if you trained your dog to sit or down its under control its not going to rip your arm off with all the pulling to get at the hare is it now think about it.

Perhaps you are being a bit zenophobic here ! Recall and retrieve are just about all we English lads need from a dog. As long as it catches, that'll do
