Good Man 196
Not all pups in a coursing litter, make the grade usually, as i am finding out. So the need to keep 2 or more pups, to get anywhere, seems to be the norm, in the coursing circles, whats folks opinions on this, it makes sense to me. Your experiences also, would be good to hear. 1 Quote Link to post

SMART DOG 340
If you were to buy in would you buy 2 or more or would you take your chance on just the 1 . I personally think if the breeding is there and can get them into tip top condition and enter them properly and get them behind there quarry you stand just as much chance as getting a good one and the main reason for that is if you have 2 or more your more likely not to put as much time and effort into them simply because "if one fails got another to try" this is only my opinion and everyone has different views 2 Quote Link to post
killing crew 2,708
1 would be my choice as you need to do alot of one on one with them 1 Quote Link to post
running addiction 207
thats right for me aswel id only ever keep one back unless a was starting out again and never had no other dog..but people keep a few back give them half a seasons graft, dont give the dogs a proper chance and they passed on some dont start to perform till second/third season Quote Link to post
gorger 977
Picking a pup or pups at 6 weeks is pure luck me personally if I breed a litter ill try keep most of them till there 3 to 4 months then you start to see bita somethg in some of the pups but still comes down to luck and a good eye for a dog 4 Quote Link to post
karlsberg 319
id be happy if one pup out of a litter of 10 would be a super star. superstars dont come around very often. 4 Quote Link to post

captain2010 2,806
Gorger what do you see in them, like speed cuteness when running with other dogs, some pups also run ahead and other pups can't catch them is that what you have to look out for Quote Link to post
black recking it 730
two pup,s at the same time is not easy but if you intend on keeping one out of the two it must be done but hat,s of to anyone that keep,s both they tend to pic up each other,s bad habit,s and want to mess about alot but they also have to be pup,s 1 Quote Link to post
gorger 977
Captain at 6 weeks hard to see much in a pup but as they get older if you see them every day I look out for good length and chest feet important hard to judge speed at 3 months just wee thgs you like when you see them everyday growing up temperment important and when I pick mine its up to me put plenty into them and hope for the best as karlsberg said superstars you might only get one in a life time Quote Link to post
Good Man 196
Cheers folks, some good experiences and reply's. I think their is more chance of getting something that will make consistent catch dogs when keeping 2, or more, you tend to see which one is using their head, some even start to hunt about earlier then others ect, first ones to do anything. Captain, how are them 3 pups are bred of yours? Quote Link to post
