SCOTTISH DOGS

Recommended Posts

Totally agree with Border Lad, Years ago before the internet, we all knew who kept lurchers in our area, who had the good Dogs and also the not so good, we all saw each others Dogs run plenty times.

Litters were bred for your own use, with no stud fee, the stud owner receiving pick of the litter.

Pups were then given to friends or sold locally, for a modest sum, regarding the stud Dog and brood Bitch they would have been seen working numerous times, not once or twice.

What about Doxhope Deerhounds & longdogs I know Northumberland is border of Scottland but does that count

It most certainly doesn't count !! LOL !! Bill is from the Ashington/Bedlington area, Northumberland.... no where near the Borders ! I think he did run his dogs around the Border areas though

Cheers.

hi , theres a lot of really good dogs about up here, and do whats required of them. As someone stated, they just dont get bragged about. Tbh, a lot of the guys i know around north end of Glasgow who run lurchers, arent on here, and always say

"your dog could have what ppl state as the best of breeding or the worst of breeding, at the end of the day, your dog is an athlete, train it , work it loads it will come good, if you dont then you wont see it at its best"

If you ask me never a truer word said. At present iv not been out much with my dogs, due to personal circumstances, however the other night i went out on the lamp (with a few guys on here) with 2x 7 month old pups, a 13 month old pup and an 15 month old dog to get the dogs moving, with very good results all dogs making kills with the older 2 filling bags each, getting the ready for this season will be fun, and ready for the tough terrain that we scottish folk put our dogs through instead of those big soft flat fields that the south has to offer :tongue2::boogy:

lol, sorry folks i couldnt resist saying that :victory:
