B.P.R 2,798
Flicking through eBay last night I decided to bid £30 on a chicken coop. Totally forgot about it and spent a few hours today modifying the triple hutch and re-painting it. I took the middle sleeping separator out and replaced the door with mesh. Then the missus said that I'd won the auction on the chicken coop! This is the one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHICKEN-COOP-RUN-HEN-HOUSE-POULTRY-ARK-HOME-NEST-BOX-COUP-COOPS-M-/280770993795?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Poultry&hash=item415f415e83 Now I'm not sure what would be better. This triple hutch is really well made. A joiner friend made it for me and with the added mesh and the paintjob it looks good. I've looked at the dimensions of the coop- 150cm long, 70cm wide and the housing is 93cm/ run is 67cm high. I'm just thinking which would be better, exercise wise for the ferrets. The triple hutch has all floors joined by ladders so they've got all 3 floors. But then the coup must be more spacious even though it's pretty small. Hmm need to decide which one is better for them Quote Link to post

Have you got exactly the same one? Same dimensions etc? I was looking last night, if I board off the 'nest box' and Put a pop hole in then that will be their sleeping compartment. The cleaning could be an issue with it being so low down, especially under the coop housing but I'm sure the try slides out giving you access underneath. I'll post a picture of my hutch later on. I'll have to see what the chicken coop is like once it's up and see how practical it is for cleaning etc and if it's any better for the stinkers. My gut feeling is the hutch is going to last for ever and they have 3 levels to run about on, it's thin and tall So fits anywhere really. Unless this chicken coop is better then I'll maybe keep the hutch. It's the size of the coop that's putting me off, only 93 cm tall and 67cm tall on the run. Quote Link to post
j1985 1,984
Iv got the same one as rake aboot but what iv done as it is only a metre or so high is in the area they shit aswell as a litter tray iv put a sheet of perspex on the ground so I can just slide it out and hose it down instead of having to either try getting inside it or move it completely to wash the ground. If the mesh was to fail I'd just upgrade the mesh myself as the frame and living quarters is sound. Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
See that one rake about has, it's bigger than the one I've just bought. The run is the same height as the house whereas the run on this one is a lot smaller and the door to it is going to be even smaller! I'm not worried about the mesh as mine aren't biters and aslong as it isn't chicken wire then it will be fine. It will be going in a small fenced off alcove so 3 sides will be out the wind and rain anyway. The problem is size. The dimensions given on the internet say it's small but can't really judge it until it's screwed together and the the ferrets are flung in. Quote Link to post
