Gaz_1989 9,539
Has anyone got there ferrets in a chicken coop? Just found this for £105.00 new. Measures 190cm x 75cm The mesh is galvanised rodent and fox proof so should be okay I'm guessing? What do people think of something like this? I think its a better option than keeping them in a shed which I was going to do. And cheaper. And would be easy to clean on a concrete base. Thanks Gaz Quote Link to post
bradclifton 1
i've got one of these for a couple of chickens..there a bit flimsy and it doesn't take long for the mesh to start coming away from the wood. i wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Quote Link to post

bradclifton 1
How about something like this? looks more sturdy..depends on how many ferrets you want to keep in there though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RABBIT-GUINEA-PIG-FERRET-HUTCH-HOUSE-CAGE-PEN-BUILT-RUN-2012-NEW-/230783426614?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals&hash=item35bbc3a036 Quote Link to post

Bunny Boiler 177
Build your own, or start from a shed and modify. Best way to go about it. Mine is an old aviary which I placed a small rabbit hutch into and I just leave the hutch permanently open so they can enter and exit as pleased. I put windshields in and tunnels, with a half pipe running across the corner where I occasionally place food to make them climb and work for it. I also have both carry boxes laid open in the cage so they can go into them and use them for shelter etc. This is also a benefit as they'er used to the boxes then. Hope this helps, and I'll try and upload a picture asap. Atb, Bunny. Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
Thanks for suggestions. I could reinforce with 2"x2" if too flimsy. Would be on a concrete base to stop digging etc. I might go down the shed route yet Research continues... Quote Link to post
Wxm 1,638
Thanks for suggestions. I could reinforce with 2"x2" if too flimsy. Would be on a concrete base to stop digging etc. I might go down the shed route yet Research continues... the thing id have to ask myself would be why would i want to pay £110 for a pen that i have to buy 2x2 to rein force it probly best spending what you'd pay all together and buying a decent secondhand 1, that someone has paid a few hundered for and got bored and sold the chickens or cats and selling it off cheap atb in what you decide mate Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I see your point mate. Ive got 4 pallets of 2x2 in 5 foot lengths that my old man gave £100 for. So that's no problem. If they are as poor quality as people are saying though then they probably need more than just reinforcing. Mesh, hinges, locks etc. Might go back to my original idea, 7x5 shed partitioned off. Half for ferrets and half for all my ferreting gear and dog stuff etc. Gaz Quote Link to post
Moll. 1,770
Ive one of those coops for my hens. There are many different people making this type, some are flimsy, some are sturdy. Had mine 3 yrs now with no problems Quote Link to post
TOMO 26,948
you could adapt one of these, by using mesh were the doors are,,, this one is good money,, but you could find one second hand maybee,,,then again those coops are a £100,,,, if you adapted it you could split it in two top and bottom http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3ft-x-6ft-PENT-BIKE-SHED-STORE-STORAGE-FOR-GARDEN-/270950595164?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Garden_Structures_Fencing_CV&hash=item3f15e9fa5c Quote Link to post
