never had a bird break a wing in free loft. Had a falconer break a falcons wing when he brought it down to the lure and a bit of wood was sticking up out of the ground which it clipped. What is the set up of your free loft is this the first year you have free lofted the bird? I am quite suprised as harris are fairly relaxed birds and pretty bomb proof from my experience. You hadnt free lofted it with mews jess and swivel on?

You will probably find it heals ok and flys like before after a bit of rehabilitation

Yep put mine up for moult and next door got new kittens and they kept jumping on the aviary roof next thing I get home and half his wing is hanging off where he has smashed himself up!!!

Gutting !! I am just waiting for him to moult out to see if he has a chance any more, he has dropped a few blood feathers from the area of damage but fingers crossed.

Hi hope all goes ok. When Vlad smashed up his wing the rest of the feather in the area dropped very quickly, from what I could see these started to grow back quite quickly, it's just a case of will they stay put!! I hope in your case that this is similar and the bird is just moulting the required area first !?

ATB and hope it goes well.
