air gun ant 1,666
hi all, does anybody no if lancashire police will grant .17hmr for occational fox? theres not many on my ground but i do put a few pheasants down and sightings are getting more regular! also the farmer keeps a few chickens , but as its a caravan sight through the summer a shotgun at night isnt really an option. I think this would count as good reason? thanks again ant Quote Link to post
shotgunny 39
Hmr still has a crack off mate , may want to consider that .. Quote Link to post
air gun ant 1,666
yeah i realise theres still a sonic crack even without a moderator but sureley it cant be as bad as a shot gun going off? plus its the extra bit of range i could do with also? my callings not up to much and cant seem to get them in MY RANGE of the shot gun thanks ant Quote Link to post
shotgunny 39
There's still a crack but your right , nothing like a shottie , just depends on the people in the campsite I suppose , how much noise they will take hope it works out mate atb myles Quote Link to post
zx10mike 137
22 lr would probably be better for that job and rated for fox quiet as an air rifle Quote Link to post
air gun ant 1,666
yeah i no .22lr would be more suited and im applying for 1 also, but ive heard there is no chance of getting a .22lr for fox on an FAC? i also have alot of land to shoot over and the bloody crows are always out of range so .17hmr would be a useful tool thanks for the replys atb ant Quote Link to post
Night Hunter 109
The .17 hmr can be damn expensive to feed compared to the .22lr Quote Link to post
Fisheruk 1
Can't see you stand a chance to get fox on your ticket with either a .22lr or 17hmr in Lancs. In any event a 17hmr at night time even with the moddy would scare the s**t out of caravaners. Have you got permission on adjacent land. a .223 is a much better weapon for the job. but you wont get an open ticket and they may ask for a mentor. Quote Link to post

webber 2
I seriously doubt that you will be granted your wish. You could consider live cage trapping the foxes. Apply for a humane despatch variation to your FAC for .22RF for trapped fox. webber Quote Link to post

PLEDGEY 496
The .17 hmr can be damn expensive to feed compared to the .22lr 22lr £4.50 for 50. 17HMR £14.50 for 50. Depending on where you get them, might be a bit cheaper or expensive. Quote Link to post

Reading on here the other day that some places are selling HMR for £12 for 50. Think I'll phone around next time and see if it's possible to find them some where else cheaper. Usually get the from Sportsman Gun Center aka Southern Counties in Exeter. Quote Link to post
