Fastdogz; Ye seem a bit hopeless about his habit of eating something then going drowsy, love? Just to say that's really quite normal ;)

He's a baby, after all. Craic is; In a nest of baby birds, they all " Gape " like hell when the parent turns up with food. That encourages the parent to fill those wide open mouths. But, having gained a damn good gut full, the better fed ones will, rather like me, tend to doze. That means the hungry ones will be the ones left stimulating the parents feed response and so getting a feed themselves ..... becoming replete. Dozing. Allowing the earlier fed ones to perk up and start gaping for more themselves. See? So I shouldn't overly worry that he nods off.

Anyway, a life time ago I worked out my own rule of thumb with 'rescued' birdlings such as this; If they make it through Three Days and Three Nights, ye generally stuck with the buggers. But no point in getting overly anxious or attatched to them till that, seemingly critical, dead line passes. Ye have a way to go yet and he could just peg out at any time. They do that. Certainly won't be your fault if he does.

If his wing is broken he is going to be really high maintenance even if he does pull through and get domesticated  Depends how much time you will have for him... Call me a skeptic :D

:laugh: Sorry I shouldn't laugh but that just tickled me pink, as they say.

And I often wonder how something so hideous when young can look so graceful when adult!

When I had pigeons a couple of squabs I hand reared actually learned to feed by opening their beaks and letting me slip the food down their gullets like canaries would do: not how the pigeon would feed its young: much easier for me! LOL

I kept a single injured ex racer for around 8 years he was called paddy, and he was indirectly responsible for the deaths of many cats....

He would sit in his run all day in the garden as they prowled around..well until the two lurchers came out the back door ;)
