patdahat 41
I would love to see a mink been taken by a hawk but i think it would have to be 1 serious bird to kill a mink. For the amount of time spent out with dogs to put 1 out for a reasonable enough chance to fly your bird you'll will get 10 times more in the trap's. I asked a farmer for permission to set a cage in a stream that he crossed every day to get in and out of his property, no problem he said but i have never seen any mink there. In three months i had 16 mink trapped.
Ideation 8,216
Cheers cookie. And i think some folk are perhaps taking the hawk thing a little too literally.
dave goodall 10
Aye, trust me, i spend a fair bit of time walking the banks, of both larger rivers, and smaller streams / brooks, with the dogs and they seem very very few and far between around these parts. Was just hoping for a little direction into which river / stream networks might hold decent numbers. You could walk for a week and never see one. This bolting to a gun scenario is a no brainier unless there's some kind of mass outbreak. Get the traps out and see what you get mate...:-) Too true had antis release loads here over the years to one point the counsil was asking lads to join in shooting them at a land fill site theres loads about still but u very rarely see them let alone them stand still long enough to be shot live traps are your best bet unless youve a pack of hounds to hunt them at you disposal

Ideation 8,216
Poor man like me can't be affording nothing fancy. If you are lucky i might give you the ten gallons of cider vinegar i got in the house. . . . . it'll get you pissed as a newt. . . . . . . .. . . but that's the only upside to drinking it. Gutter really as a bit more of a watchful eye and we'd have had ten gallons of cider . . . . On a serious note the missus wants out for a meal, so we'll sort it next time she's back
Fisheruk 1
I come across them from time to time. Best way to get them is to bait a raft with fishy cat food very early in the morning for a few days then settle down on the other side of the lake with the 17hmr and shoot it of the raft at 70 yrds. Very effective.
