shotgunny 39
Just wanted to get a few opinions on this round , I'm considering getting one soon. Atb myles Quote Link to post
JohnGalway 1,043
40 grain ballistic tip bullet, set it to hit one inch high at 100 yards, then point & shoot out to 250. Kills foxes dead enough for anyone. Edited May 8, 2012 by JohnGalway Quote Link to post
bob.243 9,217
Excellent round for roe in Scotland (don't know the law in Ireland) and foxing. ATB Bob. Quote Link to post

Atb myles No, you would be better with something like a .270 or .308, there will be others along suggesting thier favourite calibers, check the law of your country and take it from there. ATB Bob. Not sure whether they're still giving out deer licenses on .22-250's or not. Quote Link to post
shotgunny 39
It's going to be a foxing gun lads , just thought I'd ask if deer would be suitable as the roe were mentioned thanks a million for the replies atb myles 1 Quote Link to post
zx10mike 137
i'm having a custom 223 built the 1 in 8 twist will stabilise the 75 grain bullets for longer range.1 in 12 great up to say 300 - 400 and faster = ready diced rabbit. great round for foxes. Quote Link to post
remi700 99
Within the law in ROI you can have a 22-250 put on for deer but its hard to know whether they'd give you one for that purpose. .223 is a very capable foxing round and will kill deer stone dead if you put it in the right place but it is illegal. Using V-max rounds there deadly! Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,102
I love the 223,never thought I would get over my 222 but I did superb round for foxes, mine has a slower twist 1in12 its a remington 700,I have met people who use them on roe in scotland and they really like them, but to be fair I havnt heard any one useing them on bigger deer,I use a 52 grn hollow point in mine and they really are deadly zx10mike getting one custom made has the right idea, I bet that will be a superb gun, be careful around the twist rate of the barrel, he is right to go for the faster twist for the heavier bullet, I am tempted to give border barrels a ring myself, atb Darren Quote Link to post

TWOTWOTHREE 152
Spot on foxing cal I find anywhere out to 250yds is not a problem with factory ammo setting inch high at 100 yds as above, that's out my old remi 700 adl Atb 223 Quote Link to post
masmiffy 82
We use a Howa 1500 in 223 and its seems a very good foxing rifle. Since the end of last harvest we has accounted for over 85 foxes using Hornady V Max Have shot them out to 260yds Quote Link to post
