hi mate this is a long shot.Get a large hessian sack or blanket lay it on the floor near where u last saw him and put some food init then fold it over to hide the food, go back to it the next morning and your ferret should be asleep in the sack mate. this has worked for me in the past but bet he has killed in and gone to sleep

Use your ferret box as a mark and start working in clock ward circles a couple of yards at a time till you think you have covered the burrow then do a bit more to be sure . Take it ,its new batteries in both ?. Or get somebody else with a collared ferret to put theres in . But at this time of year he may have killed a young rabbit so wont have gone far

First thing i would do is replace the battery's then get a couple of mates over with a ferret and there boxes ,and as long as you can see all the holes whats the problem ?.

Well it's not a rabbit dragging it down the hole so I reckon he is hanging around for the easy food and a lie in. Might be worth borrowing a cage trap and baiting it with some fresh meat.

Why are you ferreting this time of year :hmm: A warren 500yds long will be teaming with young rabbits, your hob will be having the time of his life.Hope you get him back but for me the first sign of young the ferts are finished till the start of the following season(end of Jan for me this year).

Maybe pest control?

We were ferreting the other day.

Far from ideal. Lots of underground kills and young ones giving the ferrets the run about.

But the farmer wanted us on there reducing the numbers. It was go and do a few hours ferreting or lose the permission to someone else who will go and ferret.

this is the exact reason i was out yesterday.. it was pointless loads of young and got only one rabbit worth keeping but one of the farmers have been ringing saying the usual "were overrun by rabbits" .. as long as we show face they dont have a reason to complain....and if they cant see us letting the tennis balls go they cant say nout...we are very luky as 5 of our permissions we are the only ones allowed on and one of them he lets anyone on so we dont go to that much... they are all good permissions for shooting and ferreting so we would be daft to loose it just because its not the "ferreting season"

cant figure out why people dont understand this?
