danny300 2,240
got a phone call of a farmer this morning around 8 would i be able to go to a farm beside his as they had lost a couple of lambs to fox and he had found the den with a half eaten lamb outside. so got there around ten had a chat then went to the hole let the bitch in after a few mins some banging and bitch was mixing it with fox let her settle for a while and was in the same spot so opened up lifted bitch out and vixen and 3 cubs so the farmer got to dispatch himself and was well happy that we got them. had a good chat with him and he had asked the gun club who have a pheasant pen on his land would they shoot them at night and they never bothered going out . so now they have lost the land to shoot on and we have permission to hunt it now. so not a bad morning instead of going to ballywater game fair 4 Quote Link to post

omegathelast 160
Good result. The current hunting ban situation in England is ludicrous - a friend of mine has had...wait for it!....FOUR farmers where he has permission and next to his permission, begging him to go down with terriers as they have ALL lost lambs. If he did that would, of course, be breaking the daft law as there arent any pheasants on the land, so he can't. fireman 10,862
He can go and sort those pest 100% legaly,so what if there's lambs, pigletts or what ever outside the earth where the fox is.The law says "for the protection of game birds",well every bit of land in the UK has the right to dig foxes to protect the wild game birds as we all know there nesting right now and the law does not state in anyway what the land has to be like(forestry, heathland or hillside) nor does it state the game birds have to be released or reared. Omegathelast your mate has every legal right to remove those pests,it's just IF he is ever asked why he is removing the pest he says it's for game bird protection and not lamb protection. 3 Quote Link to post

fireman 10,862
There don't have to be any feathers,it's for the protection of game birds and not killing off the pest after he'd allready done the deed. Not really protecting them after it's killed them is it?,so without sounding funny lads the law hasn't changed anything other than dispatch for terrier work. 2 Quote Link to post
