Probuk 93
Went round all my permission this morning checking trap's and took this from a gate. Shot's at this range are easy with a bit of confidence and an accurate pcp. I Alway's shoot 50+yard's with 99.9% succes unless the condition's force me to close in on a target. Here's a few picture's. Have a nice weekend Atb Marty Edited May 5, 2012 by Probuk 1 Quote Link to post

Probuk 93
Nice long range sub 12 shot that buddy, well in. Got a Hawke Varmint on my Mrs Ultra. Nice little half mildot scopes they are for there price. Si. That's spot on ..It's a good scope for around the £120 £130 mark. Im starting to wounder the effective killing range for the sub 12 .177 pcp..I know there good at +yard's...It seem If you can hit it on the button this side of 100yard's It will go down..Weather condition's permitting. I know shooting extream long distance with such a small bit of lead has Its disadvantage's, what would you call a good limit for the sub 12 with out taking to much of a risk as to injuring an animal rather than killing it cleanly. Personally my limit seem's to be into the 60yard weather condition's permitting and from a bipod or resting on a gate or post. I ask because i see your very technically minded when it come's to scope and sub 12 rifle, and Im not Atb Marty Quote Link to post

I ask because i see your very technically minded when it come's to scope and sub 12 rifle, and Im not Atb Marty I think i would say it depends on the shooter, position from the shot is taken, experience really Marty and the conditions as you say. From a rested position (which most people opt for) I think with a sub 12 foot pound air rifle 30 to 40 yards is very comfortable for most in good calm conditions. From a standing unsupported position i would think that distance reduces greatly to maybe 10 to 20 yards. With experience and with the right combo these ranges can be extended, and from a rest and in a static scenario in calm conditions, 50 to 60 yards can be easily achieved with scope calibration and practice on metal and paper prior to life quarry. I have seen longer shots and made them myself but experience tells me 30 to 40 is the best for me to feel confident on a good kill. This morning earlier (early start) I have been shooting corvids with the .22 XVI and 25 metres to 40 metres have not been a problem from my car window with 7 shots and 7 kills but as i say the day is really calm today and Im using a calibrated SR12 scope and GunTuff LRF. Probuk 93
Calabrated scope is my weak point, Im no good at the technical stuff although i know what you mean. I zero at 35y, half mildot is around 45y, 1 mildot is 50y 1 and half mildot is 60y and so on. I had a gun tuff LRF from Ramsbottoms but had it taken from my van and didnt replace it till recently, with an MTC Rapier 5-700. In my opinion.. if your intending to get into air rifle shooting and going after live quarry...wich most new commer's to air gun shooting do..especially the younger generation, on purchesing your new rifle you should be purchesing a LRF at the same time. This is the advice i give to the younger member's at our gun club. It dramaticaly decreases injuring an animal compeard to an estimated shot and increases your clean kills. Cheer's for the Info Si Atb and hope your having a good weekend Marty Quote Link to post
