too easily available and too cheap thats why they dont get looked after....

Some of my best ferrets have come for nothing, And ya i do think £20 is a bit much for a kit. However i dont think that a £20 or even a £100 is a lot of money for a Real decent ferret, Theres ferrets

Rather than mocking the price, why don't you just ignore it, if someone wants to buy one of his ferrets for £20 that's upto them, and good luck to him, i'm sure half the people on this site just look

I Have owned ferrets all my life,I am 47 yrs old I dont think I have ever had a ferret that would not work ,I have had some slow to mature but thats it,It is a ferrets natural instinct to work, its born to hunt and kill, and any ferret brought up right will work its arse off, regardless of its initial price most people I know would give you a ferret for a couple of quid,I got my last two from a ferret rescue,Both work really well alongside my 2 jills that I have bred from blood lines I have Had for yrs, so I stand by my original comment worlds gone mad £20 for a ferret kit and I dont care how its bred,

good luck all the same

Good workers are priceless realy. £20?? For the pleasure of your sport?? What do folk pay for a football shirt? or a good tennis raquet? Everyone values items differantly however how do you value a life that is prepared to work for nothing more than the food and shelter that you provide? I hear the french value them far more highly htan we do. ;)

Cheers Weedy.

So what part of my comment made me sound like a typical woman?  My opoin was just that £20 isn't realy alot of money to pay for a ferret, when compared with other items folk pay for. Granted that a footy shirt or tennis raquet wasn't the best example to use.

Appreciate comments - all you northern lads may come across them & let them go cheap/free but I sold over 40 last year - Jills & Hobs @ £15 each & with people willing to travel ...

- breeding lines DO matter - you get ferrets that will 'flush' earths but only quality will 'hunt' - searching all levels of bury not just run through it !

As for leftovers - I kept back 2 Jills & 1 Hob last year & brought in the euro polecat.

Litters are 1 & 2 weeks old (un-sexed) & 8 already marked to go.

As much as I agree £20 is a bit on the steep side...

I do believe that there are better working ferrets than others and this rubbish about "all ferrets will work" is nonsense.

I've had ferrets refuse go down. I've had them go down and come out 5 mins later even when there were rabbits at home. Ive had them go down, flush and then come out and f**k about with nets or f**k off across the field.

And I've had them that go down, stay down, work the sets and flush bunnys and then come out and work along the hedge to the next set.

I honestly don't believe all ferrets have the potential to be outstanding workers.

Did you really need to breed 40 something kits, to only keep 3 back??

You sound like someone who just breeds for the sake of it,

Cheers fd.

I should say he bred that many because of the ££££££'s.

so much so that they are up from £15 to £20 this year..

I'm sure people will pay that for a ferret, not so sure about the working folk though.

Haven't been on here in a while and haven't been shooting in a while so I'm deciding so sell some gear and focus on other things.
Firstly is my BSA lightning tactical xl in .177 comes with hawke hd 3-9x40 scope, one piece mounts and a LED ray gl2 torch with flip up red filter and buffalo river case.
Only fault with the gun is the front sling swivel is missing.
I also have a mad dog growler jacket in APG size medium
A top gun skeet vest size medium
      British army Dpm smock medium-large
British army issue jungle boots size 11
Large jack pike shooting hold all
British army cam net unsure of size but large enough for a personal hide
I would like to see £130 for the rifle but I'm open to offers for everything together in a bundle
Collection only for the rifle but the other items I can post and take paypal payments
      I'm in Warminster Wiltshire
      Thanks
