reddog 2
is it not the case that most of the coursing blood ie saluki has been diluted between english and irish dogs. is it not a bit stupid taliking about english and irish dogs when im sure irish bitches have been lined with english dogs and vice versa. as someone said the salukis came from the middle east f**k all irish there. The bigger the feilds the more saluki needed english, tighter feilds more greyhound irish. prob talkn balls but there u go. 1 Quote Link to post

reddog 2
ya need stayers in england for the big ground plenty of saluki. In ireland u need more drive and speed to keep them off heavy ditches and gates. Id say the english bred dogs would find it hard to put enough pressure on them to keep them off obstacles and stuff. ive seen that type of dog run in ireland and its a bollax to try and run to whatch a hunt but thats not to say they wouldnt do ok. With th faster dog and less lung u can see more of a hunt in 2 or 3 fields which suits me better but u couldnt take em to england unless u give em short slips. would like to know if there are any that could do good on both without lies being told. A lot of the lads here keep dogs with loads of saluki in them to concentrate on getting to england 3 or 4 times a year and fair play. As speedie said there is big land in ireland but the good numbers of hares here still like a bit of cover ie shite running land sheep, bogs gates cattle anything that gets in the way. horses for courses comrades Quote Link to post
