I was at vets other day and microchipped my husbands working collie

I didnt do my pup as i havent decided if its a good or bad idea yet.

what is everyones thoughts on microchipping lurchers?

My thoughts were that if my pup "accidentally" chased something it wasnt supposed to and ended up in ispca/guarda hands id be fooked if dog was microchipped as it would lead them to me

On the other hand if he was stolen the microchip would be a useful tool in recovering my dog

What should I do?

depends on weather i stood a chance of getting it back or not wouldn't see the point in handing yourself in if there's no chance of getting the dog back anyway so think i'd get advise from someone that knew what there talking about

Well if your there and it accidentally chased something, there'll be no need to get him chipped..on the other hand it depends how good your recall is LOL but if your not there when it gave chase, how can they pin it on you that you told it too ..its swings and round abouts, forget the skipping the law, get it done cos of thieving b*****ds

Was out walking the dogs over a local farm round my way about 2 weeks ago, both dogs of the lead and a herd of deer come running out of cover, me bitch was of after them her recall is really good but not when she's on the tail of some thing anyway she never came back and after about an hour and a half of searching for her I had a call from a local kennel that she had been picked up by Jo public and taken to this kennel, with out her being microchipped it would of been alot harder to get back.

In my opinion I would get mine chipped if they do run some thing they shouldn't its down to me to cover there arse.

whats the point of havin a chip in thats not registered :hmm: they wouldnt know where to return it to anyway which is the whole point of havin one

If its stolen its as simple as going to my vets and registering the chip... But should my dog be doing a fenton for example it wont be of benefit to the authoritys when proveing ownership

And yeh id try and get my dog back..
