Nowdays as iv said before Coursing Greyhounds imo are Too Big 90-100 lbs to be putting over any bitch to Produce lurcher types.

A better way to go is to use 6-8 bend Greyhounds that were at the top of there Game unless you can find a real well bred Coursing bred Greyhound bitch around the 60-64 lbs mark then put a lab , springer or whatever over her.

Perhaps a dog like England Expects Max?

Why the need for a top Racing Greyhound when were only taking seconds between a champion and a decent one. By crossing with a Lab your automatically slowing the X down so wouldn't it be more effective to look for the fittest raciest lab you could find?.....

theres plenty good working type labs about drakeshead etc are much smaller and learner types this his the type what would suit . seen the grew xs lab back in the 70s working . another good base type some interesting threads of a late . I would persoanally go for a good track animal, has been said coursing stock of yesteryear were much lighter in muscle mass and frame . i am sure in the lighter framed working labs grey hiound was introduced may be wrong , atb bunnys.

Why the need for a top Saluki,Collie,Deerhound etc then? By trying to get the best available in both sire and dam surely you are rolling the dice in your favour are you not? ATB Andy.

Only known one lab cross he was 3/4 greyhound a big strong dog a mate owned him saw him run for four seasons daytime and the lamp brilliant hare dog for where we were and he slaughtered foxes.

Often fancied one myself reckon they would be everything you would want in a lurcher the lab would make them really easy to get on with.

Andy IMO a lot of people go wrong with there use of greyhounds in lurchers best available on the track is notnecessarily the best for breeding lurchers.

2 pumps, I very much doubt I will ever breed a litter of 1st cross or take another pup bred that way. What I would of looked for or tested for with the greyhound to be used is a liking for the pearly whites.

Yip i take your point but with this cross your never going to produce a world beater but at most a very decent pot-filler. Lets face i doubt no top Greyhound owner will be interested in lineing there champion racer with a Lab so the best you can expect is a very decent ex-racer or an injured bitch. I think the point i am trying to make is i'd rather line a decent greyhound with a top athletic Lab rather than a Champion Greyhound with an average Lab......

Feck off Simo he jumps fences like a stag man, he's not nicknamed the Lurchador for nothing...... ;) Heres one of his offspring......long enough in the leg for you mate...?... :victory:
