Jumpin'Jack 68
Hi, New member but have bee lurking round the site several times. I have taken my dog out ferreting a few times but we've still got a long way to go on the training side of things. Quite an obedient dog but when he's picked up a rabbit he won't listen to me at all, he seems to go deaf! He can fetch balls and toys and has quite good recall but as soon as I give him the rabbit skin dummy, that's a complete different story. Nothing better than standing in the middle of the field looking like a complete ass.. The first time we took him ferreting he caught two half grown rabbits, not bad for his first time (I was pleased anyway). He did not kill the first one and dropped it fairly close to me (it didn't run off as he must of shocked it). The second one he shook and killed. The second time we took him out he wasn't so lucky. He missed a huge rabbit from a hole that didnt have a net on . Anyway, hoping I can learn a few more things from here. Jack is a Saluki cross. Sire was a pedigree Saluki and dam is a working lurcher. People I got him from have 2 of the pups and they are good workers. He's 16 months old, is 28"tts and weighs 21kg. saharashadow 26
Welcome to THL Rebecca.Certainly a nice looking dog you have there. Some dogs can learn the ropes quickly, and others take a while longer, but they usually get there in the end.
