pro extreme hunter 10
a guy brought a used bsa super 10 in .22 from uk to sell,i was interested cause pcp are not available in market .he changed the barrel and said that its all that is needed to increase power he had a small chrony that attaches to the barrel of aurgun ,the gun was showing 860 fps with 14.3 g pellets,to be shore i tested my friends diana 350 magnum .22 on the same chrony it turned 790 fps with the same pellet. my first question can the power be increased as he says. can i trust the chrony results. and for this airgun witch pellet is best for long range hunting wood pigeon and doves. StevoSmith 147
A .22 air rifle firing a 14.4 gr pellet should not exceed 612ftps so basicaly mate that rifle shooting a .22 pellet weighing 14.3 gr at 860ftps is illegal you will need a FAC.......there can be variation in chrono test but it should not be that high for .22 860fps with 14.3gr pellet is 23.5ftlbs 790fps with 14.3gr pellet is 19.8ftlbs both over the limit my .22 tx does 611fps with 14.3 gr pellet thats 11.9ftlbs but over 10 shots i average about 11.5ftlbs Quote Link to post
pro extreme hunter 10
In my area all airguns are legal and do not require any licence. Thats why i required a full power pcp.the spring airguns that i have are all above 12 fpe. Quote Link to post
AR177 588
What steve says is correct if your in the UK then that is a firearms cert. air rifle - if you are not in the UK then you should check your regulations on the power regulations for air rifles As for your questions changing the barrel on its own should not give a rise in power like that, changing the internal mechanism workings would - But it is completely possible for an air rifle to put out that much power (the american market is full of really high powered air rifles) As for pellets - probably a heavy domed pellet would suit the rifle (with that much power aslong as you can hit the animal you will kill it) ATB Adam Quote Link to post
StevoSmith 147
Ah i see your not from UK thats ok then just check with your countrys laws like AR177 said Quote Link to post
Tron 173
I might be wrong but that S10 dosent seem to have the correct air cylinder fitted? certainly all the BSA S10 guns I have seen have a air bottle fitted to power it that gun seems to have a tube cylinder fitted instead. unless of course its a model for the USA market. Mawders 595
Ate it does look strange with a cylinder fitted that's for sure, never seen that before! Quote Link to post
Probuk 93
Are you in Belgium by any chance.? I know they have no limtit on Air RIfle power there. We live in the Czech Republic as well as Uk and you cant even use an air rifle to kill an animal out there Sick of this place already lol, think it's time for a trip to Cyprus...Then back to Central Europe for a while Quote Link to post
pro extreme hunter 10
Yes the guy who sold me the airgun changed the cylinder and i went hunting today and the airgun showed useless in turms of power with 21 g h&n baracuda pellets.my diana 56 gets a russian dove witch is a lot bigger and tougher then other species of doves from 60 yard easily no head shot required but this gun could not do it from 60 feet away i think i have been cheated other wise the gun is accurate and working.i did get some results by using rws pointed pellets from close range. kanny 20,650
It should go up to 28ftlbs i think im not sure what that is in fps but your shot count is going to be low with that cylinder. these guns love the prometheus defiants your going to want the fac 5.52mm 18gr i think... this is mine but sub 12 Edited May 3, 2012 by kanny Quote Link to post
pro extreme hunter 10
this gun is accurate with almost all pellets that i tested so far at 35 yard even the pointed pellets are quite accurate ,tried out jsb diablo 16g,airarms 16g ,H&N baracuda 16g,bsa storm ,gamo magnum, gamo match, diana magnum and diana point all of them were accurate but i am interested in best pellets in penetration for hunting.Kanny its very lucky for me that you have the same airgun i could learn a lot from you.we should do some common test to know the exact power of my gun. secretagentmole 1,701
If our friend is in Belgium he cannot hunt flies with the Super 10, no hunting allowed with air rifles in Belgium, but you can have them what ever power you like! Quote Link to post

It will certainly increase shot count Quote Link to post
