On the right terrain I think red are the fastest without doubt.   I also think fallow are faster than roe once they get going but roe are quicker threw the gears.

I once heard of a Munty doing 80mph going up the M1 !........It was in a car mind!

Been lucky to "nab" a red or two in years gone by and apart from one i think the remainder were all took with a wee bit of fortune..for example something that hindered the darn things lol..pulling the

i never had the chance pre ban to run sika or chinese or red so i cant really comment on those deer but i think depending on the terrain the condition id have to say the fstest deer i have ever run in the past has to be a roe i have run sum good fallow i think when you run them in a heard they seem to be abit on the stupid side and a good experienced dog will have one on the deck before you know it,munty arent very fast when they break cover but in a thick wood or in thick cover i think it takes abit of luck and a dog that knows the score with these little fellas

Speed wise this is the order I would of put them in I have not included sika because have had no eperience of them, doe's and yearlings are quite a bit slower than bucks and stags in all the species. From what I was told by lads who eperienced sika speed before the ban they would go under roe?

Red

Fallow

Roe

Chinese water

Muntjac
