Lewis Ste 245
Right lads my dad had an old meteor lying about under his bed and it's a battered old thing. Dented stock, scratched barrel, broken trigger, perished seals and of I look hard enough there's probably more things I just haven't opened it up yet I've only started to sand the stock and barrel. I need to know what's the best paint to use on the barrel with it being metal and what would you say to coat the stock in? I fancy and greenly coloured varnish but not even sure if you can get them? Much like the air arms super light hunter stock that colour. I've ordered and new trigger unit, piston seal and breech seal but not sure which mk it is so it might of been a waste of a tenner lmao Any advise would be great thanks, Lewis Quote Link to post

Rake aboot 4,936
Don`t paint the stock mate, Steam out the dents etc using a steam iron. Ask to have a look at some of the refurbs that members on here have done with early meteors some really good jobs. Search the forum for refurb, or meteor. I have a 1959 Mk1 which was my first gun. Do it up right and give it back to your old man all shiney and new. 1 Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
Use a gun blueing kit, Philips has a nice finish, the wife has used it on a couple of rifles... http://www.directsho.../prods/336.html Secondly Chambers may not be the best place to shop, for BSA spares try these people (the main spares agents for BSA's in the whole wide world)... http://www.airgunspares.com/store/ Compare prices before you buy! Welsh Willy is also quite good for tuning kits, which will have springs, washers, guides, top hats etc. http://www.woodfield-gcp.co.uk/ Edited May 2, 2012 by secretagentmole Quote Link to post
