PLZ HELP!!!!needs someone with loads of experiance in coursing

i have a saluki cross (he has just turned 1) i havent really trained him if im am honist i have taken him out with other dogs that are good and he sort of picked it up fairly fast he has run 3 big rabbits ;) caught 2 ( run with his brother) and countless rabbits but when lamping on his own he doesnt seems like he is intrested or pay attention when lamps on does when hes with anouther dog i am worried i might have ruined him!!! running with anouther dog. any advice on how i can change this would be much respected

if thats all he has ran then i wouldnt worry. he still yound and dogs tend to be slower coming on.

 

leave him now till everything is cut and try again beginnin of season he will be the right age then and see what happens from there

 

thats what i would do pre ban obvs

cheers i was just worryed as when i ran him pre ban ;) with anouther dog he looked good but took him out on his own and he just didnt seem intrested just not want to look where lamp goin

Its a lack of confidence mate, give him a chance. Salukis mature much slower than other dogs and 1 year old is f**k all. Let him have a few easy runs on rabbits during the close season (il get squawked at for saying that! Lol!) and then see how he goes next season. If he is shit hot when he is with another dog take him with another dog and slip him doubled up a few times then start slipping him and holding the other one. He wont know hes single handed. PICK THE RUNS CAREFULLY tho so he has a good chance of a kill. If he kills or not, give him plenty of praise. Confidence will go up that way. Then take him home, give him a handfull of munch and bed him down to think about whats happened. On top of that PERSEVERE!!! Youle see a different dog in him soon enough.

also fella the thing with corsing dogs/saluki lurchers they can be head strong so just make sure the recall is bang on,espiclly it your like the rest of us without permission the dogs need to come stright back :thumbs: keep us updated with him

I must admit that's one good thing about him he used to now ;). Down here u can only do 1 run 2 max then u got to go so he been used to coursing then bac in motor and to next field :thumbs:
