Saluki's VS Whippets

Recommended Posts

well i have both an if i put a dish of food down the whippet wins hands down

that means nothing.....if you put a dish of food on the table labs mum is always the first to gobble it down....she certainly ain't the fastest though (unless she's rolling down a hill obviously!)

the obvious answer to the original question....it depends what you're hunting! two dogs with obvious specialities (which we all know), so if you're hunting one prey, or the other...get the one that matches what you're hunting :victory:

Thats a really deep philosophical question , I suspect the answer would require an understanding of the works of Plato and Aristotle , not to mention a more than average knowledge of genetics , biolog

Which is faster, which do you prefer you bell ends

I can't understand this, Thats what whippets are known for, quick on the turns. I've run my whippets with a friends Pure Saluki's and they couldn't match the whippets on the tight 180-360 degree turns

What do you reckon saluki crosses or whippet crosses howay boys

Thats a really deep philosophical question , I suspect the answer would require an understanding of the works of Plato and Aristotle , not to mention a more than average knowledge of genetics , biology and physics., This is a question that has confounded canophiles for generations , and is therefore well over the heads of many bellends on here .

Is the answer rottweiller ?

whippets are nowhere near as quick at turning (mine anyway )

I've got a saluki x greyhound and she's the same, Sagar my whippet turns her in knots when there messing about.

Sagar is quicker than the saluki x grehound over 25-30 yds in a straight line, but after that it's all one way.

I've seen a fair few pure saluki's running the small and big fields, and it's surprising how different they are pace and agility wise. My friend has a 24" smooth pure bred that's really pacey and she can catch anywhere, she can even catch lamped rabbits on any field.

This is the smooth Bitch

A good whippet is faster over 100 yds than most salukis or even lurchers after that the ground is quickly made by the longer legged dogs. Turning a whippet will turn quicker than any saluki or lurcher over a very short distance. I have a young whippet bitch she is 17 tts shit of a shovel but have a desert dog that will pull he back after 80yds.Turning whippet would be my guess fastest they turn on a sixpence
