ftm 3,357
hope your not dissapointed mate as ive heard some real rip off merchants out there .in my honest opinion 6 weeks is nowhere near enough time to train a dog properely and please explain why your not training the dog? its the most rewarding part and bonding is very important and what if your dog is mistreated? others might differ in their opinions and thats fine ,hope all ends well tho -billy Quote Link to post
ferretlover 1
well the man that is going to be training her has been training and breeding gun dogs for 15 years now and he said 6 weeks but mabe abit long hes only training her the basics as im only going to be using her for pigeon shooting nothing else no big shoots or anything im not into that and ive trained her abit but to be truthfully i have got the time or the patients to do the main stuff Quote Link to post
ftm 3,357
your probably not going to like my reply but if you aint got the Time & Patience with your dog then your not suitable to own one sorry mate but the truth hurts -billy 2 Quote Link to post

slips 114
were as the dog gone for training as there a good trainer on ya door step S.W ive got a cocker pup at moment 9 months old and is a real gem and been shot over sense 7 month old with a 4.10 then nxt outin took the keepers 20 bore and shot a coulpe of pigeons which she retrived like a 3 year old dog she works cover hard for a pup and when i say cover that thick bramble took her to the lakes to see how she would get on as she not relly been round water and soon as she sused she could swim i did 5 retreves with a stick bang on. i can walk her in woodland and show left or right hand and she works what way you show her soon as you blow the whistle she there.but she not perfect for a lot of people cos i let my bitch work with me other dogs which like to press on and hunt and when i asked about training her when she was a pup to one of the picker up at the shoot he told me when you got a dog hittin cover hard start trainin it as whats the point of doin all the trainin and your dogs not no good in cover .so i like to hear others point on when and how you go about it cheers slips Quote Link to post
longy0710 2
Considered this with my young Labrador, but think i will train him myself, just having the odd one to one session with a local gundog trainer to point ME in the right direction. Like others have said its very rewarding when it starts to come together. My lad is only 11 weeks but getting him to do the first sit and then stays plus recall is all amazingly rewarding and helps me bond with him Quote Link to post
