taking up falconry

hi all

my name is stu i live in waterlooville just outside of portsmouth, and I'm really looking fore some help!! i know its a long shot but I'm very interested in getting into falconry and want to know for definite that I'm making the right decision for the bird and also myself!! i was wondering if anybody lived local ish to me that i could maybe vist to talk to and have a look at there birds and everything important that i would need to consider!

i am also reading a few books and am also considering doing the beginning falconry course (lantra award) if anybody has done this course please comment i would really like to know what you think??

like i said it probably is a long shot but if anyone could help me with this request i would be very great full

It all depends what bird you want to fly and what quarry is abundant on the land what bird you thinking bullseye I think your going the right way about it doing a course you should go on the falconry

hi maccy

I'm getting a female harris and so far on the permission i have seen the following quarry

rabbits

 

squirrel

pheasant, cocks and hens

partridge

crows

rooks

magpies

and I've been told and seen signs of hare!!!!

and I'm on the IFF but not had any joy and thanks for the positive comment

Plenty to go at then bullseye you would be best getting an untouched parent reared female

yeah thats exactly what I'm doing maccy 18 week old pr bird, can't wait mate so excited about training and hunting her I'm just in the process now of getting everything in place i have my mews just need to make it perfect i breed quails so thats part of her diet done and just picking up equipment from here and there!!

what do you fly maccy?
