nothernlite 18,089 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Share Posted April 29, 2012 if any of my dogs were chasing @ i wouldnt call them back and( b.) if i did i would be very dissapointed if they stoped and came back Why i would call that a well trained bog save alot of accidents as catcher 1 says come in handy atb any dog that is distracted by a call back mid chase imo aint worth a carrott its heart aint in it it may well be handy but maybe ive been doing it all wrong ive only been doing it for 40 years so im still learning we are all still learning mate learn something every day ive been working dogs for 35 years never seen it done myself but as i says i personly think it would be handy but maybe im wrong Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Share Posted April 29, 2012 The only time I've been able to do it was with a little Beardie/Grey, and only if she'd not yet got into her stride: used to stop her on hares if we were out foxing and waiting for a fox to come out of cover: hares would come out first and she'd put a stride or two in, but stop when I shouted her: but I'm also damn sure that she only stopped because she knew we were waiting for foxes, which she loved much more.
