Why would any one want to stop there dog mid course

If you slip the dog you should know the land your working

So I can't see any reason anyone would stop there

Dog mid run

Not everybody walks about with there dog on a slip. Always have the dogs working very seldom on a lead

Interesting one, i can safely say i dont think i have a chance of calling mine off once there running, BUT i think it could be a very handy as sometimes things crop up in the field, i have never tried it with a lurcher but i think i could drum it into them, but i wont. My manwork dogs were very very high drive and could be called off a bite 9 times out of 10 but this was often required in competition and they only way to acheive it with many of them was using an electric collar. As i said, i believe it can be done but requires a lot of hard work and its not something i will insist on.........

To be honest, i have enough trouble getting my dog to hear my voice when he is in even vague proximity to game, let a lone, once it's sighted. Although its a good test,if he has his noseto the ground and totally ignoresme when i call him, chances are within the next 5 mns you will see a run. But once it's up, he just completely goes deaf and dumb to anything else. Only dogs i could imagne being able to do it without it hidering would be collie x's. I'm sure it could be done, but only to the detrement of the dogs working ability, as it will always ben half waiting to hear the command to stop. If that makes sense?

Sounds like the whippet I had, it wasn't good if you were out somewhere a bit hot and the dog decides its off hunting.

A dog that can be called off would be handy imo too, like a terrier that can be called out but if you don't call it will stay till dug to.

Well, you might want to try if your dog is coursing towards a train line, main road or perhaps a small pet dog or cat.............it has been known to happen.

if any of my dogs were chasing @ i wouldnt call them back and( b.) ;) if i did i would be very dissapointed if they stoped and came back

Why i would call that a well trained bog save alot of accidents as catcher 1 says come in handy atb

any dog that is distracted by a call back mid chase imo aint worth a carrott its heart aint in it it may well be handy but maybe ive been doing it all wrong ive only been doing it for 40 years so im still learning ;)
