bird i can see why your going down that path but that cross has some of the bad points your collie cross has,yes it should have better drive and more bottle but the things that niggle you with bryn can play a part with that breeding as well, heat stress is almost a certainty there coats are very thick, they can be temperamental sulky, some come very heavy and because of that are limited.

having said all that, that may well not be the case but i am sure you wont find one as dexterous and nimble in the field as brynn.

ive had experience with ally crosses and out crosses and can say those were very good,i even had a pup booked from a reverse bred mating but no bitches available so it didnt come off,i know the way your thinking regards what this breed is going to bring so hope it comes off for you,its along time to spend rearing a pup.atb.

thanks mick , yes you right mate regards Bryn , as you seen him working in the field alot of times, he is very agile+fast with great strike on him. And this x gsd x grey and few other xs prob wouldnt be as good as him . And the temp of the gsd x grey will be alot differnt to Bryn , as he as a nice +soft temp, where the gsd x greys are lot more bolder type temp as ive been told. I think it will be like Bryn regards ( brain, coat+feet, not bad wind + ok speed ) but like you say differnt temp, lot more fire in its belly, the rabbits wont know whats hit'em ;) .with a bit of luck ther might be pups this year from the above dogs . if you put a coarsing dog over a gsd there a chance that 1 or 2 might turn out first class dogs with anough speed, but how can you tell whats what at 8 weeks old,if you used a greyhound the chances are they would all have the same ability and in the right hands would all turn out tidy dogs ( well above average ) most people say first xs are to slow, now some of the same people are saying you would be better useing a coursing dog, and as for bird he,s no spring chicken anymore, ray as done most things with dogs but now he is trying something different, and its given him a new lease of life, and if it dont work out very good he will be the first to say,but at least he gave it ago, if you think to much into anything you end up not doing it , so just do it. all the best .

I allways believe if one has a mind set , one should get on with it ,these types arent a new xs , its the last 15yrs a so of modern type hunters that have swayed to differnt types . one needs to weigh the pros and cons of any xs one his begetting . ugly hids in the eye of the beholder , good animals grow on you ,i believe ray fits the bill for this type and have never met the man , even offered to fix him up with a welp . experience of types and field craft can be nothing but added bonus . the f1s are pretty much the same and usually hasve the same capabilitys its the handler that brings knows how to get the best from them and use the traits they have to there advantage . for those who want a strong type working sheperd type hunting companion the alli xs will and does fit this bill , i believe tha t in modern day lurchers there are those that dont either feel the need or do not know or desire to get the very best from a hunting companion , perhaps this his just me , but i believe there atb bunnys. will still be die hard lurcher buffs who will and do need that little bit more than the point and shoot type .

aye thats right flint, you aint the 1st or only person to do it tongue2.gif

with out arguing give me one good reason why youd use a coarsing dog

they work...

il tell you why not then , the x as plenty of stamina if fit , very clever and plenty of guts, and the pups from the straight x , should look very much the same, from the coarsing dog they could be al shapes and size,s and you also have a good chance of losing a bit of speed

i never asked you flint, an i doubt i ever would ask your advice or thoughts on a subject to be fair.....

a lot of the lurcher men i know that aint breeding litters for profit, but for there own use are using the coursing dogs instead of grey, im not saying its right or wrong, im just saying its worth thinking about...

after all aint coursing dogs just doing the job a proper grey should be :D

eddited to add, best of luck with the litter, what ever way yous breed it

what litter of pups, in the last 40 year i might have bred 6 or 8 litters, most people who have never seen them run say they are to slow now your saying use a coarsing dog,the people you know thats useing the coarsing dogs are doing it to give the bull xs more stamina, theres a big defferents

there ye go jumping to your conclusions again flint, that is only 1 case i know of, my old bitch who had been dead a few years now was bred, lamper x courser, by a guy that was a decent dog man, you know nowt about me, so leave me alone, let these guys have there thread....

im not trying to spoil the thread im talking about a x i know a little bit about , you talk about xs you know nothing about, you ruin the malamute threads,i asked you a question why would you use a coarsing dog you couldnt answer it , why talk about xs you know nothing about, you say i know nothing about you,i know you got a bull x about 8 month old with cn coarsing lines in it

you dont know fook all, i aint got no bull about 8 month old, none of my dogs are 8 months ye mad ole fool, im trying me hardest to bite me tongue, i have been told you are old an are ill, so please, just leave me alone, i have put my input into this guys thread....

its ok for you to have a go at me when you got your mates to back you up, but when i have a go back you start crying, and im speaking the truth not like some, and your probably the same as fence hopper when things aint going your way you report me to the mods, and as far as me being old and ill theres a good chance i could still walk you into the ground, case clossed
