spanj 11
The money City have spent is because they can , if anyone thinks what they have spent has BOUGHT THEM THE LEAGUE ? well that means EVERY title won since the Premiership started has been BOUGHT , because they have all spent 100's off millions to achieve this , tell me a team which has won it without spending A LOT LESS than those below them cause i cant think off 1 , and Arsenal have proved if you dont spend you dont compete where and when it matters , good luck to City and there loyal fans .... where were the fans 3yrs ago who have jumped on the city bandwagon someone asked .... Easy that Question they where SUPPORTING CHELSEA IMO there's a big difference between regularly replacing top players with other top players in an already established team, to buying a whole complete team using a virtually unlimited supply of money. The Manchester City identity is meaningless when that happens, lets face it, if ANY other premiership team had that money the exact manager/team etc. could be winning the league but under the name of a different club (if that makes sense), not one of them players joined City because it's City, they did it because that's where the money was. If I was a City fan, obviously I'd be happy that they're potentially going to win the league, but the way it's been done would definitely take the shine off it for me. Couldnt agree more mate
spanj 11
Malt and Rob, you've got it bang on in my opinion, it took Ferguson a long time to get the club round to his way of thinking/playing.. and all of the success since has been based on that grounding, investing in youth and signing top players 1 or 2 at a time....... not even for big money always, King Eric was only 1m I think...... the start of the year there were some big signings (money wise) De Gea, Jones, Young etc but even these are brought with the idea of development as they are definately not the finished article....... look at Rooney a huge amount of money for a massive talent, but Ferguson has managed him perfectly would any other manager of handled him as well I'm not bitter about City they're a good team to watch with some outstanding players but if the money goes so will they..... there aren't the foundations of years of work like at UTD...... & lets be really honest theres not a chance in hell they'll do it 9 times never mind 19 !!!! (I'm an evertonian btw)
gnasher16 30,274
This thing about buying success......i was chatting to an opposition fan up north a few months ago who i thought had it bang on.......he said......every premier league club should lose 1 point in the league for every million they spend, then lets see who the most succesful football clubs are as opposed to who the most succesful owners are. Arsenal would piss it.....................even my little Hammers might even finish mid table ..........................

robbo tip 5
City deserve to be in the position they are now in, they've been better than us all season and they were better tonight. I think it's a credit to us that we are even as close to them as we are, given their spending since the Arabs have been there. Now looking forward to the FA cup final and winding gloating Liverpool fans up when an in form and confident Torres tucks a few away... City are only spending big to catch up !!!!! They haven't been spending big for the last twenty years !! United have never gone out an bought a whole team of established players in their prime and at the top of their games, or even been in a position to do so. That's a poor argument.. PS, how's your own team doing lately, do they even still exist...? dont talk about own teams mate cause they are f*****g shite

gnasher16 30,274
Yep Everton would be up there as well.........Not sure they would be above Arsenal but certainly 2 clubs who live within their means and have relative success doing so.........how ironic they both just happen to be 2 of the most traditional old clubs, longest serving clubs in top flight football, longest serving managers in top flight football........in the game today.....................funny how when you look a little deeper than whats shoved in our faces every day you see who the true football clubs are !

Well said mate, Moyes does a great job at Everton without having real star players ( as such), when I watched them at UTD Fellaini (spelling) was a real handful and Jelavic is another top player, not sure on costs but there astute signings..... Wengers been a master at it for years, he must hate City more than anyone, Nasri, Clichy, Adebyor,Toure all went for the money...... Would love to see a club like Everton really upseting the apple cart one year and...................... finish 2nd to UTD
