harris eating eggs

can any one tell me why the male harris has eating the egg.

Don't know why mate,but put a couple of dummy hen eggs in the nest, when he can't get into them he might lose interest and leave them alone.

seen a good few eat the shells when hatched to put some calcium back, thankfully never had any eat the actual egg.

 

all these birds do some strange things somtimes, think we perhaps expect too much when captive breeding them, its all pretty unnatural with some birds doing the wierdest of things that certainly wouldn't happen in the wild...

thanks lads, the male is 3 year old ,female 8 year old , the female has been breed before .first time for the male.
