ran out off bacon!

Recommended Posts

got home from work the other morning just before first light too find some sneaky git had polished off all the bacon so gathered my gear together fetched the dog from kennel and set about catching some breakfast, after a little bit off creeping through a small patch off wood my first shot presented itself a nice woody at around 35yards side on target without a breath off wind i sent a .22 crossman slap into its head and down he came like a stone and was promptly retrieved by the old lurcher, bit more walking around and couple off unsighted spooks and a second woody landed around 15 yards just in front with it watching the dog closely i was able too bring the gun up and send it down stone dead, a fair bit more wondering about the permission and a trio off birds in a tree 40-50 yards off two cocks squabbling over hen enabled me too ease myself a little closer and from under holly bush i managed too take one out and too my surprise one took off and the other stayed put peeping down too see what was going on that hesitation was all i needed and sent him crashing down into the river thankfully the old boys a pretty good swimmer and retrieved it with out much bother but decided to shake him self off before completing the retrieve so that was one pretty scrambled bird but four was enough for me and off home, pigeon pitta breads went down a treat the dog got the breast from the shaken bird and the ferrets enjoyed the spoils, just a couple off snaps missed the water retrieve by being too bloody slow but thats that aye.
