i seem to spend to much time this time of the year looking for and dealing with cubs that the rifle boys have left to starve after shooting the vixen   Had 2 litters to try and find a couple weeks

Why the concern about foxes. What about the squirrel with young, the woodie with squabs, the rabbits with kits, the crow, the magpie the jay, all with young. There is to me absolutley no difference in

Farmer: A bloody fox has had a load of my chickens, lambs, ducks etc - please shoot the b*****d.   You: Sorry mate, there's a possibility it may be a vixen with dependant cubs and its not fair on th

some very good view great read I consider myself as a pest controller I do make money some times for the job in hand but most of my money is made from what I shoot directly or indirectly I enjoy the hunting and see it as a job I hate shooting any animal that has dependants but it comes with the territory I do try and educate the people I am shooting for and try to explain take the numbers down before breeding will mean less breed this is what I call control. the ones that I get cross with are the ones that say I got a some thing eating my stock be it live or plant when you look at the pens they are held in you can see why (you no what i mean) You still have to shoot the problem as they will lose more stock before they will change anything if they change any thing at all. I worked for a couple of years on a game estate rearing mainly and releasing a few thousand too the amount of foxes shoot was very low as the release pens where well made and protected we lost more poults to owls then foxes and no we did not kill any bird of prey I think they are great and I fly one to.

Mark I think you will find that a lot of people forget about the birds of prey and automaticly go for fox or badger as the culpret. cats and dog also get over looked where i am but i know that they all do as much damage a foxes and badgers.

when a ewe gets killed around here its always the fabled big cat that stalks the land under the cover of darkness, Bollocks it`s Mrs whites untrained and frustrated collie from down the lane!!!!.

I just cant see shooting foxes as a sport i'm afraid. Infact lamping them or waiting out for them was nothing short of a chore when i had a shoot. I never once thought "yes lets get the lamp and go and drive about all night for a f*****g fox". I'd rather be in my bed since i'd be up early the next day. But its part and parcel of a job and if it wasn't done then you would be taking a big risk.

Now i very rarely if ever get any bother from them in the rearing field but if i see one then it gets it. I dont know when i'm pulling the trigger if its a dog or a vixen and to be honest i dont really care. Do i hope i make a clean kill.....YES..Do i hope its a vixen thats not had cubs yet....YES...Do i hope there isn't a litter of cubs somewhere in the wood left to starve to death...YES....but my main aim is too protect my livelyhood and i will continue to do so.

I think most of use have made it clear that as long as the cubs are dealt with and not left to starve which looking at the pic they have not and it is not just for the sack of killing which again it does not as there appears to be 2 chickens in the photo then I dont think anyone really has a problem with killing a adult fox of any gender good luck on getting the vixen though the last earth I wiped out I left the mother to the end and guess what she did not come back. one other thing am I the only one having a problem with up loading pics I get to the end of the loading and I get a message saying could not up load server error. I have taken off the firewall and tried with google and firefox but no joy

How about it indeed, there's a few on here happy to have permissions to suit their own agenda and happy enough to leave the farmer swing in the wind  Bit of reality never done anyone any harm.

Nothing harsh about it Mark :)

There was enough parts to make three lambs, two hares, what looked like a baby pheasant, at least one hen, and a mouse, and that ain't their first home so what else has been slaughtered to feed them I wonder
