for goods imported, VAT is applied to the invoice value by UK customs

 Really.............. I can assure you i never paid VAT on it.. Maybe i was lucky, where are you getting the information from because i think your talking shite, i think the VAT must be added on but i guarantee that the price on the traps plus the delivery will be how much you pay, i know i have done it and it is cheaper..

As far as I remember , I have replied to these post's in a polite manner giving factual answer's. Why do you then insult me with your last post?

Every time I have purchased something from USA, VAT has been added to the invoice value of the good's by UK custom's then passed to a carrier for delivery. The extra charge has had to be paid to the carrier before despatch to me.

If you had done as you say you had you would know all this, therefore it is clear that it is in fact YOU that is talking SHITE!

Look mate all i know is that i have never ever paid VAT buying Traps, golf clubs etc from America... Look order the traps from Steve on ebay it will come through as the price's it states on the page.. If you get charged VAT i will give you my pay pall address and i will pay the rest up. Hows that?

Here is something i printed of a ebay page for you.....

There is a lot of confusion regarding VAT.

Should it be shown on all receipts? If it isn't what does that mean? Do I have to pay VAT if I buy abroad?

This is a rough guide to VAT for buyers.

VAT and Receipts.

If the seller is a private individual selling their own used property in the EU or UK then no VAT is payable. That is because the VAT was paid for the item when it was first bought. In effect the VAT is considered already included. (Dealers in second-hand goods can even offset this against their VAT bill if they record the right information.)

For traders in the UK (ie people selling as business), contrary to popular belief, VAT does not have to be shown on all receipts, and in fact in some cases must not.

When they must not.

Im sure this is the same for buying in America as well..
