Its about time this one got put to bed........but I suspect this will re-ignite the fuse!

I have 21 land permissions and they are all from the landowners and nothing to do with the gamekeepers! And I worked ******* hard to get all of them (and keep all of them), and got plenty of rejections on the way!

This site is only one way of attempting to get permission, get used to the knockbacks, stop moaning and keep working at it if you are serious about shooting.

Poaching does not, and never will help our cause.

What devine right do you think you have to poach because you cannot get any shooting permission?

Welcome to the real world!!!

Its nothing to do with "high horses", the world seems full of pathetic pimps who always want to blame someone else for their failures! Perhaps you can explain why gamekeekers are duty bound to give permission to anyone who simply asks on a website? Perhaps you can then explain what right that person has to go poaching simply because noboby gave him permission!

Getting permission is not a right, it is a privilage!

I have historically tried websites, shooting magazines and mail shots to get permissions, and found most to be virtually useless, I did't start crying afterwards and say ok then nobody wants me so I'll have to go poaching!

The world seems full of wossies these days...if you want it bad enough go out and make it happen!!!!

If you do not have permission you can call it whatever you like, the fact is, it is poaching and/or armed trespass!

I do not need you to help me out and I don't give a **** about incompetant people who have hundreds of acres and cannot put a dent in the rabbit population (other than the fact they give us all a bad name)!!!! Perhaps they should consider line dancing or needlework instead!!! And anyway, if they can't cope why don't you help them out instead of poaching??????

I have the resources and experience to more than make a dent on any piece of land! I know its a bold statement, and it is not a boast!!!!

Please do not make assumptions...I have a team working for me (for free, because they want some shooting), all enjoy their shooting and all are experts in their own fields ...and fully insured! And I have many more who want to get involved as well!

ALL my landowners are VERY HAPPY, to the extent that almost all my permissions now come by personal recommendation. I personally took care of 129 bunnies, 3 deer, 2 fox, 11 squirrel and numerous corvids and pigeon in September. The whole team did considerably more of course!

Next question!

being young can ethier be my biggest advantge or my biggest disadvantge when getting permission poeple ethier dont want me on becuase they assume i have to idea of what im doing or want to have me on because they like to see younge fellas doing productive things and not getting in to shit and i quickly judge the person on how i should act iv noticed the best way is to always smile and be thankful for the time if they go to say somthing pause in midsetance and listen to it carfully never brag talk as littel as possible so there sure to tell you everything you cant do which is usally alot and show that you understand fully also a nickname helps for example ill just get them to call me rabbit boy that way they tell the other farmers around them and its easy to remember (tell them your full name but) also dont screw around with the workers go striaght to the owners and if that dosent work then become friends with the workers find out who they are and buy them a beer in the local and convince him your not a bad bloke dont talk about hunting to much theyll know what you want but put your case forward for example when you walk up to him say" ya g'day mate your the keeper at such and such place i was speacking to your boss abit earlyier he seems alright " and go from there and if all else fails give him $50 and and kill as much shit as you can for the day any way theres usally afew poeple conected to every farm its easy to convince atleast one of them to let you on and if you find you've been hunting for 27 years and have got f**k all land because you cant"take orders" its proberly because your a c**k head and a smart ass and have absolutly no manners and you should be trying to fix your own character flaws before commenting on anyone elses

so after a few weeks of the poll being done there were only 19 votes 402 views.

the permsion thread i started got 523 views

and the ATENTION thread got 169

NOW MY POINT IS THIS ALL THE KEEPERS ON HERE MUST HAVE READ THESE TOPICS, AND NOT 1 HAS OFERED ME ANY PERMISION :censored: CAN YOU NOW SEE WHY PEOPLE POACH.

THE OLD ANSWER YOU GET , WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN COUGHT ON LAND IS , " if you had asked i would have given you permision" FECKING WHAT A LOAD OF OLD BOLLOX.

AS THESE THREADS HAVE PROVED. NOT ONE OF YOU HAS EVEN SAID WELL IF YOU WERE CLOSER YOU COULD HAVE COME ON MY BIT.

YOU SEE WHAT WERE UP AGAINST YOU KEEPERS, I HAVE A, B.P.C.A QUALIFICATION A MEMBER OF THE C.A and INSURANCE COMMING OUT MY EARS. I RESPECT THE LAND AND WOULD ABIDE BY YOUR RULES.

BUT STILL FECK ALL . THIS IS WHY FOLK POACH ;)

Where are you based?

Unfortunately, just asking is not enough, through a forum nobody "knows" you, trust, respect etc; its not easy over an impersonal environment like this.

Like I say, where are you based?

Its not really suprising its hard to get permission round us Lord B as its not too long ago that the area was hammered during the miners strike folks still remember the havoc we all caused out of necessity and the popularisation of the lurcher that came about at the same time.

Hopefully in a year or ten permission might be easier to get as theres not many places that get bothered these days like they used to im too old to run now and getting caught the other day got me a fair old bit of land to run on as no one was keeping the numbers down.

Surely an extra pair of eyes or two on the land at night has got to be an advantage to any keeper and save them time in pest control giving them more time for the job in hand rearing the birds

Well i think this one may go on for a while yet

"NOW MY POINT IS THIS ALL THE KEEPERS ON HERE MUST HAVE READ THESE TOPICS, AND NOT 1 HAS OFFERED ME ANY PERMISSION :censored: CAN YOU NOW SEE WHY PEOPLE POACH."

Maybe all the keepers didn't read this, or maybe you are assuming everyone is a keeper & not a land owner, i didn't read it & i am not a keeper, but a land owner, the keeper does not always have the right to give you permission.

"THE OLD ANSWER YOU GET , WHEN YOU HAVE BEEN CAUGHT ON LAND IS , " if you had asked i would have given you permission" FECKING WHAT A LOAD OF OLD BOLLOX."

Don't do it, or if you have to do it don't be daft enough to get caught.

"AS THESE THREADS HAVE PROVED. NOT ONE OF YOU HAS EVEN SAID WELL IF YOU WERE CLOSER YOU COULD HAVE COME ON MY BIT."

Did you say, if anyone is close to your bit they could share your land ? :hmm:

"YOU SEE WHAT WERE UP AGAINST YOU KEEPERS, I HAVE A, B.P.C.A QUALIFICATION A MEMBER OF THE C.A and INSURANCE COMING OUT MY EARS. I RESPECT THE LAND AND WOULD ABIDE BY YOUR RULES."

It sounds to me like you are fighting yourself, not the keepers or land owners, now i am not sure weather you poach yourself, but if you do how can you respect peoples land and expect to get permission & respect when you talk about poaching :hmm: if you don't poach i apologies

With all that said i wish you good luck with getting permission & if you wish to pm me your details Tomo i would be more than happy to chat with you & build respect for each other

As said above by Deker, Outshooting and others. This post may mot have been read by the right people, but I reiterate that asking like this is not the way to get permission. Asuming that you have a God given right to be granted permission if only you ask will not work. Sure, if you don't ask you wont get, but there is much more to it than that as has been said many times in this thread and others.

This issue will not go away until people realise that permission or indeed just taking game or using someones land (for game or coursing or whatever) is not a given right, and is something to be earned and valued once it has been received.

The countryside, land and its resources are a precious comodity that farmers and landowners are batteling hard to make a living from, harder than any time in the past. That makes it all the more dificult for rights and permission to be handed out as the resources on that land are all the more precious given how hard it is to make the land pay - after all, to the majority of owners/farmers, their land and whats on it is their living, their job, in the same way as you may be a builder or dentist or plumber or whatever.

Gaining the trust and respect of the farmer is more important now than in the past, and thats a two way thing. Even, concider "paying" for your permission, why not? Let shoots, syndicates and other all do. If not in cash, offer to help with lambing, or feeding, a bit of labour (if you see a damaged fence, offer to reair it), a bottle of whiskey, anything, it all helps, and why not. If something is worth getting, its worth putting some afort into acuiring it, very very little is given for free in this world, especially when it concerns increasingly fragile resources.

Arogant attitudes expousing a right to permission, or the fact that nobody will grant you permission on the strength of a less than polite post will not do it. Even if you live 1/2 mile from me, this sort of request wont work, not at all, but face to face, with a little time and knowledge of someone and a build up of trust, then maybe. But even then, if you are turned down take it on the chin and move on, respect the fact that there will bereasons why you have not been given permission.

Earn the trust and respect, show the same, offer to help with something or give a little to grease the wheels, bide your time, and apreciate the farmer or landowners concerns and needs and it'll come, but do not just expect because you have asked, there is a right way of asking anything.

Feel free to ask my for any advise if you want, but be aware that because of the resources on the land, and the dificulty in amaking them pay etc, there is more to it than just asking...........

WELL IM AMAZED THIS THREAD IS STILL GOING :D I HAVE ONLY LOOKED AT IT A COUPLE OF TIMES SINCE WRITING IT

TO BE HONEST IT WAS PART MEANT , TONGUE IN CHEAK. BUT BECAUSE OF MY NOT TO GOOD USE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IT COMES ACROSS A BIT STRONG. BUT THE POINT WAS STILL THE SAME, ABOUT ASKING PERMISION. BUT OF COURSE I CAN SEE THAT IT WASN'T RECIEVED WELL BY LANDOWNERS OR KEEPERS.

I ALSO DIDN'T WORD IT RIGHT READING BACK :icon_redface:

AS IT HAPPENS I HAVE A LOAD OF PERMISION, AND I ALSO WORK AS A PEST CONTROLER. SO I GET PAID WORK AS WELL. IN FACT THIS SEASON HAS BECOME VERY DIFICULT GETTING ROUND IT.

AS FAR AS KEEPERS GO I DO HAVE RESPECT FOR THEM, I WAS ONE ONCE AT WELBECK ESTATE UNDER PETE BETTS (WANKER) I HAVE 3 THAT ARE GOOD MATES, BUT LIKE ANY INDUSTRY THERE ARE SOME c**ts OUT THERE. WHO STILL THINK ITS THE 19th CENTURY NEVER MIND THE 21st

SOME WELL WORDED REPLYS FROM OUT SHOOTING AND LORD B. THANK YOU :) A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL TOMO
