wondering what type of water bottles you guys use for you ferrets and what type you think is best

Normal rabbit water bottles, i use 500ml i think. Just like the one below. I hate the fact that the water drip's out though.

I just use big ceramic bowls. They last longer than the bottles [unless you drop 'em.]

Yeah, bottle came off the hutch this week and smashed all over the floor, new one bought and just waiting for the next time now.

The only problem with the bowls is mine scratch the water out or just trash the cage when there playing & tip the dish over

 

But the water bottles are a pain as well,get broken very easily

Yep exactly, i tried a bowl of water with a counter weight in, they just splashed all the water out.

 

Its a case of swings and round-abouts.

i keep my ferrets in pairs, boys together, my old jill & my youngest (castrated) boy together, and my 2 stray jills in together. the 2 jills have a bottle on their hutch, the boys have a 1.2 litre bottle on their hutch because they tip a bowl over within minutes of it going in. one of the boys sticks his head under the water, then takes it out, and flips the bowl. the old girl & the youngster have a bowl, as they're both civilized enough to not tip it. trial end error, really. the 1.2 litre bottle is damn handy, as the boys will empty a normal bottle in a day or so.

I use the water bottles but the coloured ones as they dont seem to discolour in one day

I broached this subject a while back,I dumped my bottles last summer and reverted back to bowls.I saw my ferrets savaging the ends of the bottles in the heat last year and it was due to not being able to get enough water to drink.I havn't had a problem since I reintroduced them.Has anyone seen the larger versions of the rabbit bottle?You can screw a 2 liter coke bottle onto the neck of the dispenser,it allows a good ammount of water to be released,very good they look.

I found the bigger bottles crack & break more easily, so i use 2 medium sized ones

Mine have a water bottle on the front of the cage, i have had no problems, and if its warm they get a metal water bowl with a brick in it to stop them flipping it over....

I tried a bowl but found it got filled with shavings and dust too quickly....

Two bottles, and in the summer i also put a seed tray (kind with no holes in) with a rock in it so they can go in and cool off if they wish.
