Lab 10,979
Ok like a right diddy i ran out of oil for my heating yesterday. Thought i had enough till the end of April but because the girl has the fecking thing on all the time its used more than i bargained for. So today i got it filled up and the boiler is getting oil to it as i have bled the system just incase of an air lock( thats happened before).......but the f*****g thing wont fire up. It tries and a little black smoke comes out the flume and then it cuts off. Any ideas of whats wrong or how to fix it. As i said its done it before and somehow it just went again but i'm getting grief for no heating and i'd like to get it going again before i strangle her........ Lab 10,979
What have you bled, the rad's or the burner? Right i'm just guessing here so bear with me. Theres a copper pipe that comes into a small square sort of box. It has what i would say looks like a bleed bolt. Plenty oil getting to there but obvioulsy not getting to the correct bit? Chid 6,489
You need to bleed it after that bit .. Keep following the pipe and there is normally another bleeder further up . Get a pick up and some one could show you where to bleed

Is that the wrong one mate?

Lab 10,979
Its the one with the alan key above the one you are talking about. I've taken that one off to mate but i took it right off from the bottom. Do i slacken the middle with the alan key then instead? Do i start it up until it fires up while its still loose? weasle 1,119
above the flexiable hose you can see a long hexiagnle tube probally has a allen key fiting in the middle or you can just open the whole thing, bleed a good bit out.
Chid 6,489
Loosen the Allen key and keep trying to fire it up till plenty of oil is coming out then retighten and should fire up .... Open it a few threads, hit the red [reset]button, air and oil should come out.close it fully when the burner starts up.
weasle 1,119
If its along run from tank to boiler it can take a lot of oil to get rid of all the air plus the way that hose is curling like that will be trapping air.
Lab 10,979
I've taken through about half a litre of oil, i'm stinking of the f*****g stuff and its still cutting out. Getting angry now.....should i try booting the thing....
weasle 1,119
Any chance you twisted the wrong thing, and adjusted the oil pressure you will need a plumber then. How far away is the tank.
