Simoman 110
Do many of you keep ACD lurchers? They are something that interest me and apart from one lad i knew who said it was the best dog he ever owned, my experience lies from reading coney catcher, for those who have kept them what were there faults and what were there positives? forest of dean redneck 11,740
didnt fireman have one for a short while? i remember a litter being bred and looked strong, i looked into these little dogs as the aussies swear by them as guard dogs and wary of strangers so wondered if that came across into the lurcher side. 1 Quote Link to post
Good Man 196
Far as i know, its hard to get a true working ACD in uk. The good working ones are in oz. Its these, mated to a good greyhound bitch, that would hopefully produce the type that Phil Lloyd worked, sometime back. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/4737-cattle-dog-x-greyhound/ Edited April 20, 2012 by Good Man Quote Link to post

Sirius 1,391
Look at the Hackles up on that Blue old Ute dawg...lol There is no doubt they are hardy strong footed dogs, seen a few working out there in OZ on sheep stations and plenty of pedigree (shortlegged slightly roly poly types here in the UK) but the temperment I have noticed can be maybe a tad...Sharp at times? fireman 11,003
And the best feet you will ever see on any dog anywhere,i did have one for a bit(she was pts after a horendus leg break)and she was turning into the best dog i've ever had.She was only 10-11 months old when i lost her but she was well getting the ferreting game sussed, she'd retrieved big rabbits and hoofed game(shot first of course) and i she'd have died for me protection wise,if i was ever out with her and she saw someone before me she'd sit on my feet and give a little growll and this trait her litter brother also has. These dogs are not overly agressive but they take no stick from nothing(very strong jaw power for a dog there size),one thing i will say that is probebly the most important and that is they get bored and will find ways of occupying themselves and this can cause you a bit of stress at times ,there also not the fastest of lurchers first x wise(i was lucky with mine)but they give there all and likes been said one on one they are so loyal you have to see it at times to believe it. God i miss my dog . 6 Quote Link to post
