milegajo 595
A quick write up on a small blueing job. All courtesy of secretagentmole. So many thanks indeed to him. The Patient; MKII TX200 .177 manufactured Jan 95. Symptoms; Thin blueing on underlever starting to betray an orange hue. Patient was internally in very good health, so all she was in need of was some cosmetic surgery. The procedure was very straight forward indeed. A clean cloth, a dab of gel applied fairly liberally but as evenly as feasible. After 30 seconds, (one thousand, two thousand, three thousand....) rinse with cold water. First coat; Third coat; I dare say with a few more coats one could boast a much better finish, but as shown just 3 demonstrated a marked improvement almost matching the blue on the barrel. I would, however, recommend Phillips Gun Blue advertised on fleabay. Partly because Phillips is reportedly a British family run company, and also because secretagentmole reported superior results with it. If we compare prices, the label says £7.95 for the Abbey stuff whereas when I last checked Phillips was a fiver (plus p&p?)... Quote Link to post
