It's the same for everyone, bankers included......so I ask again, why don't we take more of your wages in tax?

Why should you or anyone else pay less than a banker......or a doctor......or a security guard

If anyone can give me a logical explanation as to why people who earn above a certain amount of money should pay more than anyone else in tax or have a higher tax rate then I would very much like to hear it.

And none of this " they can afford it" nonsense......that's got nothing to do with logic!

No you got me on that one,you do seem to contradict yourself wilf unions shouldnt be payed more than thier members, but its ok to pay bankers millions in bonuses, surely they should get the same as the cashiers in the world acording to wilf

Interesting points of view...

From my observation....

A few years ago, unions forced our business to recognise them, told the staff how hard done by they were, accused us of victorian principals etc..etc..

So, the workforce balloted and the required percentage achieved in order to make us recognise the union... The members then paid tier union fees.....and I swear to god.... that was the last time anyone heard from the union... money paid... no representation lol All the members have since realised, the union offered no advantage over decent communication with the management team.

A few years ago, Dundee was to get a car factory... From memory it was Nissan.... The unions got involved, and made their demands, .... car company went elsewhere.... and Trust me Dundee needs Investment..

I understand they also were responsible for Timex leaving Dundee...

The amount of stories I read about corrupt union officials..and .. People not being allowed to multi task...because its 'not your job' etc...etc...

Just boils my piss....

No need for unions if the manegement are fair with the workforce and tbh my exsperience with a big union like unite all their intrested in is getting your money to prop up new labour.I was a member of the n.u.m for a number years despite peoples thoughts on the 84-85 strike this union did hell of a lot for injured miners and widows of men killed in the pits and the pension fund we paid into has helped a lot of people who worked in the industry.

i think the principal of a union. if it were used in the correct contex, could be good.... but i think they are just like any other political party... in it for their own interests..

I agree, if the workforce are ill treated, with a poor management team, and the union are there for the right unions.... no problem...

convince me if you see it differently....i am open to opinions and experiences.

What a refereshing intelligent response from what I would consider the political "other side of the fence"

Interesting to hear about the positive side to the num, one that I will admit I was not aware of

When you talk about the top earners, it may seem that they are taxed at a higher rate but because of the amount of money involved they are able to shuffle their earnings around so they end up paying LESS tax than joe bloggs.

Bankers pay structure is bonus related simply to avoid tax, etc etc . . . .
