and if the rest of the country .had come out with the miners .we wouldnt be in the shit we are now .once thatcher and that yank she brought in starved the miners out .we were f****d first went the fam

Greedy bosses and Thatcher ruined british industry . the Germans have a well unionised industrial sector but are one of the powerhouses of the world , they invested longterm in high tech machinery and

no cheaper import's runied alot of industry especialy in the steel and coal mineing industry

Not the only reson but they certainly don't like mucking in when the chips are down, this country was completely down the khazi in the 70s when they were at the height of their power and all the leaders wanted was power under the guise of sticking up for " the worker"

I have no doubt that the vast majority of union members are genuinely sticking up for an ideal, trouble is they are pawns in the power game of their socialist union leaders......let me tell you lads, Scargill and his kind could not and do not give a flying f**k about your ideals.

I know my lot don't care about me, so I am under no illusion.

If union leaders were bang on genuine, they would only earn the average wage same as their members instead of the vast sums they take from your union dues at the moment.

Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others huh?

I don't think they ruined our industry, but at the same time the men at the top often lost sight of the important issues IMO. The unions were nothing but a force for good when you look back at the horrific and dangerous conditions that workers had to endure before they existed.

unions certainly killed off the british car industry, most of my memories of the `70`s were leyland being out on strike nearly every week, and because the workers were being paid what would be a good wage even in this day they never had any money to invest in new models, even the ital was only a rebodied mgb, god they made some crap cars

I think unions are businesses themselves..out to make profits.. i think they have contributed to the demise of British Industry.. The more I read about them..the more it frustrates me.. That's not to say all union members are of the same opinion though..

It frustrates me more seeing employment agencys and set ups like A4E who have got millions in goverment contracts takeing the piss out of people who just want to put a pair of work boots on and do an honest days graft more than any union .Its human nature that lets us all down in the long run thats the conclusion i have come to over the years.
