rabbits overgrown teeth

I wanted to know if any one else has come accross this in the past i was out shooting years ago and came accross a skeleton of a dead rabbit

as i looked at the skull the rabbits bottom teeth had grown to curl over the rabbits fore head they was about 2 and a half inches long.

i wondered if the rabbit had died of starvation due to the length of its teeth.

Aye ive shot a couple that had overgrown teeth they where both from the same farm as well

Almost definitely. A recessive gene causes it I believe.

ThatS WIERD mate aint it on the same farm too ive only ever seen it once this was about 20 years or so ago wish id kept the skull to show people.

or a of set jaw if there jaws arnt level they carnt grind them down with eating so they just grow

I shot 2 in the same field like this , the bottom teeth were so long they finished on top of the rabbits nose, both big rabbits but not much meat on them. Also both shot in the middle of the day.

My dog caught this one night, i chinned it as normal and it's tooth went right through the palm of my hand. Hence i no longer chin them anymore!!

yes i ferreted one last season but the thing was it had just as much meat on it as the others it also had no top teeth
