kps1979 1,308
Hi, I was on the moors today walking my lurcher and terrier on public rights of way and paths, my dogs put up and caught a couple of rabbits, I'm just wondering what the law is on dogs catching rabbits in these circumstances? As said it was on a right of way, so just wanting to find out if it's illegal etc, thanks Quote Link to post
BrianSteven72 369
yes it would be illegal the land will belong to someone a public right of way gives you the right to walk it but not to hunt rabbits from it Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Aye, for the record, i wasn't saying don't do it, just like has been said, don't get caught, and if you are, play dumb, or call your dog fenton. 1 Quote Link to post
tsteve9999 456
Aye, for the record, i wasn't saying don't do it, just like has been said, don't get caught, and if you are, play dumb, or call your dog fenton. I had a Fenton moment last week, got off the main road onto the canal towpath, loosed the dog and he immediately put a fox up and chased it up the bank and across the road. I was sure he was going to be run over but the traffic slowed down luckily , I now make sure I'm a few hundred yards down the towpath before loosing him. Quote Link to post
border lad 1,047
thats the reason we are classified as poachers, walked the countryside with an ole dog since mid50s and never been in court, plan your job ahead, have a drive a round, in daylight of course,,leave your dog at home,,, and of course try to get permission, very difficult, now,, Quote Link to post
