I have never made a catapult but do make walking sticks and leave the shanks I cut for at least a year if hazel and a holly shank for twice as long. This allows the shanks to season and shrink, is it not the same with catapult forks?

no idea, only just started making them

I do do a lot of wood carving bowls, net needles, spoons ect and always work with green wood, unless I find a nice bit of oak thats been down a few hundred years, and just work the wood then leave it to dry slowly and hardly ever have any problems
