Ratreeper 441
What's your favourite way to gamble? The honourable past time for the English masses (more bookies than corner shops in some places). I used to work near a casino and dabbled with roulette, but I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone. I used to play with £20-£40 and usually walk away with £70-£100, but obviously lost a few times too so decided to quit forever after winning £400 in one spin, my birthday blowout. But I do love poker, which I think offers the best odds for gambling as you can really control it and I see it as more of a game than a wager. I played over this easter as my gf works, and won $280 so far ($230 profit) so I will be withdrawing most of it soon to pay my car tax, how exciting! I hope no-one has re-mortgaged their house to cover their gambling antics, keep it cheerful
scothunter 12,609
I like a punt. I've gambled from horses to dogs to what colour the next car coming round the corner. Fortunately I don't do daft bets like that anymore, but yes I'm in the bookies most days.

Ratreeper 441
Its an addiction at times that can get people carried away .Yes ive been there on a major level . I can see how it can easily get a grip on someone, especially when you start out lucky or really love the sport/game. I think poker is a good outlet because you can buy-in to a tournament and that is the maximum you can lose. I have had a few silly wagers on drawing a high card etc when a bit high, but I won so all is well
scothunter 12,609
It's only a problem if you gamble money that isn't yours.
PlasticJock 539
I love roulette... Got a simple system that works but you need a fair starting purse. Got kicked out of the last casino a few months ago, think they call it minimal risk betting?

Got kicked out of the last casino a few months ago, think they call it minimal risk betting? I got my mate into trouble, I jokingly said 'why not just bet £1 on black, if it loses double your bet, then when you win again just go back to £1 and do it again'....I just meant it as a joke since if you double your bet each time it can become ridiculous very quick. Well he wasn't as clever as I thought and emptied his bank account, but we were students so it was about £100...

billybaltic 308
I enjoy a bet on the horse's and the football, the bookie's is alway's the winner at the end of the day, even if you have a few win's, they end up getting it back over the day's or week's, but it is still nice to take a few quid off them now and again, this coming saturday look's a good gambler's day, oh s**t. Ossie n Arch 1,682
Never been into a Bookies in my life, wouldn't know what to do if I did. However a guy at work does and together we have a dabble on the 4 Golf majors. £14 each, spread over a few names, a few to win and an outsider each way. Good old Bubba Watson. 40 - 1 Shame we only had £2 on him.

Ratreeper 441
I enjoy a bet on the horse's and the football, the bookie's is alway's the winner at the end of the day, even if you have a few win's, they end up getting it back over the day's or week's, but it is still nice to take a few quid off them now and again, this coming saturday look's a good gambler's day, oh s**t. That's the right mentality, I would never gamble expecting to win. It's just about enjoying it, roulette is fun with a group of mates after work but in reality it's a shit game and even with the most cunning system, you will just end up losing slower. But I always quit when I am ahead, hence I never play anymore. But poker is great, even if you lose £10 you can still enjoy an evening spent playing, which is a cheaper few hours than most other night activities, unless its labs mum. (that is the last lab joke, I am not getting dragged on to that band wagon, but who else can I make a mum joke about?) Edited April 10, 2012 by Ratreeper
