transit van [ indicator problem ]

can anyone shed any light on this problem ?? when it rains heavy i get problems with my indicators , they come on and stay on , the indcator lights in the cab stay on as do one or the other outside. any help would be great , cheers mick

Have you got a towbar with electrics good place to start if not the rear light clusters are renowned for getting soaked and causing shorts

no tow bar mate , but ill check rear light cluster , would sealing any gaps with silicone help ?

Yes bud you'll probably find the water is coming down the inside of the van from the roof joint down in to the lights if you can get the wiring plug of the light cluster pack the connector with grease or Vaseline should stop the water in the future

its a pick up mate , so water will find its way in from all over ? but ill do that with the cluster , thanks for your help :thumbs: mick

Ah if it's a pick up follow the wiring loom back from the lights some of them have a plastic junction box on the chassis rail that fills with water as well

it will be the back light clusters i had too replace both mine on my last transit as did several of my mates its a common fault and you can buy two new clusters for handy money and just plug them in job done

found the junction box and it was wet inside , gonna let it dry out and see how it is then :thumbs:
