Guest little_lloyd
I have a little 2 n half year old Border xLakeland terrier, Not really working but in her early days used to be on a farm every day. Anyway my uncle whos keen countryman and shooter said she would make a good bushing dog. Never bin bushing or have any connection with it so i would like some tips and advice on how to bring her on?? Plus i want to take her beating next season. Quote Link to post
alimac 882
imo a bushing dog will be a nightmare on a shoot day, because one day your asking it to chase rabbit fox etc the next you are asking it not to, a quick route to upsettin a keeper is to have a dog on a shoot day that thinks its there to chase ground game Quote Link to post

mussells 0
i know a good few terriers that, get dug too and still beat in a line...if the dog,s got a bit of savvy it knows what game your playing, but you will have accept the fact that if you do use it for both and the terrier comes across a fox or rabbit it WILL go for it.. I guess it all depends on the shoot,if its a posh shoot then i think not having any dogs in the line is best, but if its a little friendly shoot then bring them all out and have a fun day shooting...Terriers are not robot dogs(no offense by that) like some labs and spanials i know that will do everything you ask straight away without hesitation, they`re terriers naughty little wind up merchants that are nuts and bloody good at what they`re breed for!! SO as long as the keeper does`nt mind go for it. Quote Link to post

thurso jack 3
if your dog will answer you when callled, even when on a scent/chase then take it, if it wont leave it at home quite simple really, i take my russell bitch out beating and she is more than welcome she answers better than a lot of so called gundogs and is very handy for pushing birds out of very thick cover where bigger dogs wont get into. my russell dog now, i wouldnt dream of taking out, apart from the fact i dont want to use him for bushing etc, he would be off and thats the last you would see of him.
