martin 332
I think maybe if you've not really read it before then you would probably enjoy it.But,it does tend to get a bit repetitive at times,so,I would buy it weekly, and then you can stop when you want. Quote Link to post

Phil Lloyd 10,738
99% of the time its shite ......not a lot in about lurchers ......you would be better getting edrd... spot on snoop i've got copies of shooting news(unpolitically correct countrymans weekly for those young enough to not know.) going back to about '83 if you compared them with the CMW now you'd think lacs owned it . From what I've been told,.... Back in the 'early days' of the S/News x Countryman's Weekly ,.the writers and various contributors were fairly recognisable and couldn't really hide from the folk who purchased the magazine... If they wrote lies,..they would soon be faced with the readers and held to account for their actions. Nowadays, writers invariably use a nom-de-plume and only their close friends know 'who is who'.. Another thing that is readily noticeable is the sheer amount of newbies that are entering the ferreting,.lurcher and terrier scene. They are understandably 'hungry' for knowledge and need to absorb the basics and want to read about things that many experienced hunters have no interest in. Correspondingly,..we now have less than erudite wordsmiths educating the tyro ,..they lack expertise,.but fulfil an important role... I used to enjoy looking through mags,.but I take none these days,..just cannot be bovvered... Cheers,.CHALKWARREN.... Edited May 10, 2007 by CHALKWARREN Quote Link to post

I suppose the C W is in an awkward position regarding some aspects of Field sports,it cant be seen to be promoting"banned sports",so inevitably it appears watered down,by the standards of yesterday.
