Guest cookiemonsterandmerlin
How do you improve articles of hunting the enjoyment of the day out the smell of the countryside the excitment of entering the ferret to that fresh warren that clearly heaving with coneys waiting to exploded into your nets etc. The basic fact is that on most days the days hunting goes along the lines of turn up and perm dogs ferrets work and catch coneys in varying numbers from nil to 100 maybe more . The days action is hard to write and improve the stories of old the huntinglife is a far better way of us to edit and tell of our hunting days. Some pepole have a better writing than others yet what we do is pretty much the same week in week out and as one great hunter once said what we do is hardly rocket science . What we must do at grass roots as indviduals is try to encourage new blood young or old into our sport. And we must get a balance of newbies writing and time servied hunters posting. Jealousy is rift in the hunting/shooting community and you only have to see how some members hate other members because they have either done more or do more than them . And start long winded sob stories threads . If some put as much effort into hunting as taking part in THL there would be heck of alot less coneys in the UK. ATB Cookie 2 Quote Link to post

The starting of both threads are going to draw conflicting views and only service to cause divide in the hunting communtiy if if that was not intended and the forum and oringnal OP has got to take the rough with smooth on members views of the subject and the reason for the oringnal threads. Unlike some members I do not intended to follow others in a sheep like way with disliking members I base my views and opinions on my experience in life and forum. Being a member of THL is not a popularity contest like it is for some and I strive to give honest fair opinions and share my knowledge and fun I have in hunting with others even if comes across a bit arrogant . It's the way you put certain things across sometimes that gets peoples back up Cookie, it's got nothing to do with one person taking a dislike to you and everybody else following.. Quote Link to post

ATB Cookie You make a very good post and then ruin it at the end trying to have a pop at me. And when you read this reply, i bet you will go on spouting the usual drivel about how i dont like you, and everyone follows like sheep etc. To be honest mate, i've never had a problem with you, but i'm starting to. I don't hate anyone for doing / having done more than i do hunting wise, if i meet such folk, i try to button up and learn a bit. That's the name of the game, however much you do, there is usually someone who does just that bit more, or something different you have not thought of. That's a damn good thing, i think if you do this every day, even after years and years you will still pick up new ideas or have fresh revelations. That 'sob story' was aimed at a couple of members on here who were writing stuff like 'why bother posting' on lads threads when they had been out and only caught a couple. I'm interested in reading what folk have taken the time to write, no matter what the final bag is, just like i enjoy my days hunting if i catch 0 or 100 coneys. As for putting as much effort into hunting as taking part in THL. . . . well, i live a lone, i have no hobbys, and few non-hunting friends. So pretty much ALL i do is hunt and go on THL. And you can't hunt 24/7, so that leaves a lot of time to spend on here. And i must say, most of my best friends are now folk i have met through here. And perhaps what you failed to see in my intital post, was that, i have no issue with the guys writing style, his methods, or what he does. Just the way that he, and many others, try to belittle or look down on fellow hunters, in some misguided idea, that as a 'professional bunny basher' they know more, or catch more, etc, than an obsessive hobbyist, or even dare i say, profit hunting poacher. Apart from dividing the rabbit choppers and the rabbit stretchers I was knocking a magazine for publishing articles that are highly opinionated, and in which the writer needlesly belittles fellow hunters, and comes across as an arrogant smart ass. That, if anything, divides people. Quote Link to post

Jai I have not read the article you base your thread on but you have a bee in your bonet about experiranced hunters so called belittleling SPELLING I think over time a person who does alot of X be it hunting or work wise can be called arrogant . When on sites the standard brickies hate good brickies as them see them as arrogant tossers where I see them as men and the top of there game and respect there knowledge and skill. Something lacking on THL respect knowledge of men who do this day in day out . You cant tell me that you think a guy who goes out 6 of so time year we ferts can have anywhere near the understanding of a ld who ferts 6 days a week. Both need and warrant respect both have value in there opinions but there knowledge will be on diffrent levels. ATB Cookie Quote Link to post
