Rolfe 2
I had to drop something off at the local Gamekeepers cottage today and i have never seen so many different types of fowl in my life. Ducks, Geese, Turkeys, Peacocks, Guinea Fowl, Bantams to name a few, not to mention a miriad of chickens of every colour and size you could think of. Most were sitting on eggs, the mallards and turkeys especially so, one nest contained both mallard and bantam eggs both birds taking it in turns to incubate, god knows what the chicks will think they are when they eventually hatch. I thought it ironic that one mallard had nested under the keepers "BSA Bantam" vintage motorbike that had a waterproof cover over it and was stood under his back porch, it would have been to much to expext a bantam to have laid there. Anyway.......... Here's a few snaps of the visit, I always marvel at just how hard to spot these mallards are when they sit tight on eggs........the one excetion being one in the flower trough.
