woodga 170 Posted May 9, 2007 Report Share Posted May 9, 2007 well with the weather being so warm this year who thinks the birds will be on the branches a bit early ? traditionally the 12th is the day we normally hit them but we are having a look a few days early just to see if they are on the wing yet the usual crowd complete with airguns shot guns ect will be there and hope fully we will have some good pictures from the foray to put on here we will have a bit of trapping snaring and fishing as usual and some nightime lamping , cant wait for the morning now im starting to get all the gear ready now and im bound to leave something behind ill let you know how we get on Quote Link to post

Guest SJM Posted May 9, 2007 Report Share Posted May 9, 2007 How long between when they are squawking in the nest to when they are on the branches? Cos I was up at the rookery last night and shot 2 adults, they werent going far from the nests and I could hear the young uns in the nest but didnt see any branchers. Cant wait as its good fun shooting them. Only bad thing is you get a right sore neck from standing looking up all the time or at least I do anyway Quote Link to post

zap 4 Posted May 10, 2007 Report Share Posted May 10, 2007 i,ve been shooting rooks at the same place for years until last year when i went up and there was nothing to be seen same this year nothing and i was wondering if something could have scared them from this wood .there are a lot more buzzards in the area could this be the reason Quote Link to post
